Her Soul Compass
My very wonderful life coach and business mentor, Naomi Arnold, asked me "So, how many blog posts do you want to write before you publish the website?".
"Six", I responded quickly, full of enthusiasm and lets do this ness.
Like all good life coaches, Naomi listened and instead of guffawing loudly or suggesting to me in the nicest possible way that six was a high number, she rephrased her question to "How many blog posts do you think you can write before you publish the website?".
"Er, OK, three", I replied, sighing at relief how someone else can be so thoughtful on my behalf.
So here I am, at the computer, trying to write three blog posts to get this website baby going. My mind has gone blank. My inner mean girl is pointing her finger at me and cackling "How could you have thought you write something useful?". I've been procrastinating and spending way too much time on social media. I've consumed a lot of coffee. I'm feeling nervous. What will you think?
I don't have that answer. I can't possibly know what you will think. Or if have anything to write that will be of use to you.
So to start with, before we get to know each other, I will write about the things that are useful to me. The tools I use to dig deep on my values. The people who inspire my thoughts and actions. The different ways I'm learning to tune out the world and tune in to my intuition. I'll write about my soul compass.
I'm closing my eyes now while I type and the words start flowing.
I know that when I tune in to my soul compass, when I use it as my guide, when I lean in to hear it gently whisper what I already know is true, I can be brave. I can be fearless. I can be happy. I can kind to myself and other people. I can give without expecting something in return. I can forgive. I can accept. I can be completely sure that amazing opportunities are coming my way. I can feel enormous gratitude for tiny things.
I can start my mornings by asking myself, "Hey, how are you feeling today? What do you need?" I can look after myself. I can nourish myself. I can be my own best friend yet at the same time I can feel part of a deeply connected collective.
Obviously this is a journey and I'm only at the first step. My bag is packed but I'm not quite sure where I'm going. I'll learn and I'll share in this space with you. Maybe we'll pass each other on the path with a nod and a smile but hopefully we'll be travel companions for a while. Hand in hand while we wander along, guided by the north star and our soul compass.
